Filmmakers sometimes have to perform complex tricks on their own, lose weight or gain weight for a role, or even remove their teeth. It happens that banal accidents turn out to be dangerous, of which there can be thousands on the set.
Stanislavsky’s method sometimes goes very far.
1. Angelina Jolie.
In 2010, 35-year-old Angelina Jolie acquired a scar between her eyes. The reason is ridiculous: she accidentally bumped into a doorframe on the set of a scene where she had to shoot a pistol through an open door. The action movie “Salt” turned out to be far from the biggest success in her career.
2. Sylvester Stallone.
While working on the site of “The Expendables 3”, the star of the action series “Rocky” (he was then 67 years old) suffered a severe neck injury. The surgeons had to install a metal plate on the damaged site. By the way, he was in the hospital with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
3. George Clooney.
During the filming of one of the scenes of the thriller “Siriana” (2005), George Clooney injured his back so badly that, according to his own recollections, he was thinking about suicide. The injury would not have been so serious if he had not previously gained 10 kg on a special “pasta diet”. Doctors were able to repair the damage through which cerebrospinal fluid was leaking, but since then the actor regularly suffers from headaches. But for this role he received an Oscar!

4. Robert DeNiro.
In an effort to make Max Cady in Cape Fear (a remake of the classic 1960s thriller) more brutal, De Niro paid a dentist $ 5,000 to sharpen his teeth. After filming, the actor laid out another 20 thousand for veneers.
5. Mila Kunis.
To play a ballerina in “Black Swan”, Mila Kunis – who did not suffer from excess weight – had to lose about 10 kg. She then returned them to return them, but, as the actress herself admitted, “in the wrong places”: the kilograms found a new place on the hips and stomach, for some reason preferring not to return to the chest.

6. Uma Thurman.
Quentin Tarantino is known for being able to squeeze all the juice out of an artist if necessary. So he made Uma Thurman on the set of “Kill Bill” drive a car at high speed without an understudy: as a result, she crashed into a tree, injuring her knee and spine – injuries continue to manifest themselves almost 20 years later.
7. Bruce Willis.
“Die Hard” not only made Bruce Willis a world star, but also deprived 2/3 of the hearing on his left ear: these are the consequences of the unsuccessfully filmed shootout scene.

8. Christian Bale.
“Games” with their own weight are what many people know Christian Bale for. He undertook the most radical experiment while preparing for the film “The Machinist”: the actor got rid of 30 kg by going on a diet that consisted of a single can of tuna per day. Plus cigarettes and whiskey. As Bale admitted, this did not affect his health in any way. We believe, but we urge readers not to repeat!
9. Jared Leto.
But Jared Leto cannot boast of the same: gaining 35 kg for the role of Mark Chapman, the killer of John Lennon, in the movie “Chapter 27”, he earned himself gout, which still causes the actor a lot of pain.

10. Daniel Craig.
The role of James Bond did not come so easily to the artist: he lost two teeth on the set of Casino Royale, a phalanx of a finger while working on Quantum of Solace, and injured his knee while filming a fight for Specter. And even this suffering was not enough: in August 2020, the British named the best James Bond in history, not him, but Sean Connery.
11. Charlize Theron.
Twice during her career, the actress had to radically gain weight: for the films “Monster” (2003) and “Tully” (2018). For this, she put herself on a bread and potato diet and ate mostly at night, washed down with cola – as Theron later said, against this background, she began to get depressed.

12. Shailene Woodley.
For the role in the film “In the Power of the Elements,” whose heroine survives on a ship in the middle of the ocean, the star of “Divergent” and “Big Little Lies” went on a diet of 350 calories per day. This pretty shattered the actress’s exchange system.
13. Tom Hanks.
According to the actor himself, two roles led him to type 2 diabetes – “Philadelphia” (1993) and “Outcast” (2000). In both cases, he had to lose weight very much and quickly: in the first film – for the role of a dying of AIDS, in the second – for the sake of the image of the modern Robinson.
