How to “tighten” the face contour without surgery

Now procedures with a similar effect are appearing on the market, and figuring out which one is more effective and safer is becoming quite difficult. We are talking about procedures created for those who would like to achieve a skin tightening and tightening of the skin or the effect of SMAS (Superficial muscular aponeurotic system) lifting.

SMAS is a muscle-aponeurotic layer under the skin that, like a skeleton, supports the skin. Prior to the appearance of devices, only plastic surgeons worked at such a depth. And now – for many years you can forget about plastic. This was made possible thanks to the effects of focused ultrasound on the deeper layers of the skin and muscle tissue.

The effect should be as follows: the second chin disappears, the oval becomes clear, the skin is taut and elastic, and your reflection in the mirror is 10 years younger.

About SMAS Therapy

Over the years of its existence, SMAS therapy has proven to be exceptional – it is a non-surgical procedure with a long-term effect (18 months or more), which has been shown in most scientific studies

How does this happen

During the SMAS procedure, micro-focused ultrasound penetrates to a depth of 1.5 to 4.5 mm, providing spot heating of different layers. The heating temperature is controlled 140-158 ° F. Only with this heating, internal processes are started that promote the growth of new, young collagen and elastin 5.6. At a temperature lower, these processes will not start or partially start, and a higher temperature will not lead to an increase in the effect and may be unsafe.

During SMAS therapy, you can monitor in real time how deeply the waves penetrate and which structures are processed. This is very important because the thickness of the skin and the depth of the inner layers – SMAS, subcutaneous fat and dermis – are individual. Imaging technology allows you to correctly assess the depth of exposure to micro-focused ultrasound, as well as to see not only the internal structures, but also to monitor how tightly the sensor adheres to the skin.

At the same time, the imaging system helps to bypass large vessels and not affect the periosteal structures. If you do not follow what happens in real time in the area of influence, then you can burn the skin or get ultrasound on bone structures. And it is not only painful, but also harmful

Does it hurt?

Several levels: SMAS (the framework that holds the oval of the face), pancreas (subcutaneous fat) and dermis. Each layer contains a different number of nerve endings: SMAS contains the most nerve endings, so the effect in this area is always sensitive. If you do not feel anything, then you were either well anesthetized or the doctor is not in the SMAS layer, but if the doctor is not in the SMAS, then do not expect the effect.

“It is possible to precisely determine in which area the impact is carried out only in the presence of real-time visualization.”

Subcutaneous fat – there are fewer nerve endings, so when exposed in this area, almost nothing is felt, only a slight warmth. But if the doctor treats you only a layer of subcutaneous fat, then the effect after the procedure can be even worse than before – flattening and thinning of fat packs can lead to early aging and the rapid appearance of wrinkles and tissue prolapse. At the same time, there are few collagen and elastin fibers in subcutaneous fat, therefore, the start of synthesis of new collagen and elastin will be insufficient to achieve a lifting effect.

Caution! Possible cheating

Like any successful innovation, SMAS therapy already has many copies. However, the visualization technology is difficult to fake, so unscrupulous cosmetologists will most likely offer you to abandon it, arguing that a good specialist knows anatomy without any instruments. But it’s one thing to know the location of internal structures, another thing is to determine the thickness of each layer by eye, to understand how thick each ligament is and where each vessel is located, and to accurately find the necessary depth of exposure.

Agree, if the experts were able to determine everything by eye, then we would not feel the need for computed, magnetic resonance imaging and other diagnostic tools. Therefore, the main thing that needs to be done when going to the procedure is to make sure that there is visualization technology. Well, then – the work of the master!

There are contraindications, consult with a specialist.
